Get rid of the echo! Acoustic well-being increases the comfort of the environment. It is proven that high-quality acoustics significantly improve the intelligibility and perception of speech, improve concentration. Echo reduction also contributes to a more perfect perception of music. The contours of the tools stand out and their separation becomes clearer.
Often even simple solutions are of great benefit in environments with poor acoustics. Offices, classrooms, restaurants, meeting rooms often suffer from unpleasant reverberation and echo. The auditory perception of speech is then unintelligible and long-term listening is tiring. We have a simple solution.
Hanging or gluing the Silentmax® acoustic panel is very easy, and the panel can also be easily adapted to your layout.

Silentmax - 3D Line
Modern design, very high absorption of acoustic energy, airiness, durability, ecology. A modern solution for reducing echo and noise in the interior. Silentmax3D Line acoustic panels can be mounted on the wall and ceiling. Installation is very simple. The acoustic segments slide into the patented Silentmax easy-fixd profile in one piece. The grooves in the profile centre the individual acoustic segments.
The Silentmax3D Line acoustic segment base array measuring 244x200x10 cm contains 7.8m2 of Silentmax® acoustic absorption material.
The speed of sound is 345 m/s, and a distinct echo has a reverberation time greater than 1 second. This means that it bounces 100 times in one second between walls at a distance of 3.45 m, about 50 times in one second at a distance of 7 m, and almost 140 times between the ceiling and the floor at 2.5 m.
It's like throwing a stone into water, and it ripples across the surface. Sound propagation in the air works the same way, only in all directions. Simply put, from the source of the sound, the waves propagate in all directions. When a sound wave hits a hard surface (wall, tile, concrete, glass, wood), the energy is reflected. The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. When an acoustic wave strikes a soft material, its acoustic energy is absorbed.

Unbalanced acoustics are not solely an issue in commercial or utility spaces. Acoustics, despite their significant impact on psychological well-being, are often overlooked in modern apartments, ironically in favor of practicality. Extended reverberation times impair the clarity and intelligibility not only of speech but also, of course, music. They also hinder the ability to locate sounds spatially. Modern living spaces frequently lack acoustically absorbing materials, particularly in minimalist interiors without carpets.
Reverberation time is the primary acoustic parameter for enclosed spaces, relatively easy to measure and should typically fall within the range of 0.2 to 0.5 seconds. An overly dampened room can feel oppressive, while a room with no damping exhibits noticeable echoes, such as the unpleasant reverberation of a clinking spoon. In simple terms, the issue stems from the accumulation of acoustic energy due to reflections from solid surfaces, including the ceiling, floor, windows, and especially the walls. Reverberation time can be controlled using various soft, acoustically absorbent materials. These materials include specifically designed acoustic panels and diffusers, as well as items like thick curtains, carpets, and upholstered furniture.

Hybrid Acoustic Diffuser
Audio and Acoustics
Your hearing does not perceive sound only in a direct line in the axis of the speaker, what we hear is also a lot of reflections from the walls of the listening space. Room acoustics has a fundamental influence on the perception of music. That is why quality audio and acoustics are inseparable and a diffuser plays a very important role in the relationship. Even relatively good acoustic conditions deserve to be improved by acoustic treatment. Sound reflections from large flat surfaces like walls worsen sound clarity and intelligibility. The diffuser evenly disperses unwanted sound reflections. Thanks to this, elocution becomes clearer, the recording gain more spatiality and clarity. Details previously hidden come forward.
Improve Acoustics in Modern Interiors
Modern living frequently omits dealing with acoustics, unfortunately so, as acoustics have a fundamental effect on our psychological well-being. Long duration of reverberation interferes with clarity and intelligibility of speech and worsens spatial localisation of our hearing. Living spaces usually lack in acoustically absorptive materials. With modern minimalist interiors without carpets, their absence is virtually woeful.
The duration of reverberation is the main acoustic parameter of closed space. It is quite easily measurable and it should fall within the range of 0.2 to 0.5 seconds. A space that is overly damped feels oppressive. Conversely, in a space with no damping at all, one can hear considerable echo, for example the unpleasant reverberation sound of a teaspoon clink. Reverberation time can be regulated by changing the amount of acoustically absorptive materials, such as thick curtains, carpets, fabric upholstered sofas, etc.
Hybrid Diffuser in a Room
Compared to other acoustic solutions, a hybrid diffuser diffuses sound waves in one plane and absorbs them in the other. The patterns are optimised in such a way that enough acoustic energy is always kept in the room. Also, the ratio of absorption to diffusion can be to some extent controlled using variations of the basic pattern. On top of that, the diffuser is adapted to natural properties of a room: it suppresses unwanted standing waves thanks to differences in the density of the pattern. A well chosen hybrid diffuser can therefore substitute for a combination of different acoustic solutions that one would otherwise have to combine.
Custom Diffusers for Demanding Audiophiles
The size and volume of the listening space is directly related to the optimal size of the diffuser. In larger spaces, an appropriately sized diffuser will contribute significantly to the improvement of acoustic conditions. Contact us and we will produce a custom-sized diffuser especially for your room! The diffuser can also be stained in any shade desired as long as it is darker than the default natural treatment shade. In lighter versions (for example white), the oak wood segments layer is replaced by a quality plastic layer (the frame stays oak wood).
Intended for demanding hifi listeners, it improves the overall acoustics of the listening space.

Using this acoustic diffuser has a similar diffusing effect on the sound as sandblasted milk glass does when placed in front of a light cone. Milk glass evenly disperses, or diffuses the light beams. The exact same effect of evenly and regularly dispersing sound is achievable with an acoustic diffuser.
Acoustic Diffuser – Theory, History
The formula for the calculation of the diffuser shape is based on quadratic differences of sequences from the elementary number theory, as described by mathematicians A. M. Legrand (1752–1833) and C. F. Gauss (1777–1857). The 2D-QRD quadratic diffuser has excellent efficiency, its behaviour can be calculated and it works in both horizontal and vertical planes.
The main advantage rests in filling the listening space with sound without unwanted linear reflections from flat surfaces. The diffuser should ideally be placed between the speakers in such a way that its centre point matches the centre point of the wall height.
Upon customer’s request, an inverse diffuser can be made. The inverse one is placed behind the listening spot so that the two are directly opposite each other. The effect of diffusing unwanted reflections then multiplies.

IQ-I
The IQ I features a rigid yet lightweight body made from Pocan, which is equipped with integral threaded inserts for easy installation in the tonearm headshell. This mounting system greatly improves the mechanical coupling between the cartridge body and the headshell compared to the traditional nut & bolt fixing.
The internal coils are made from extremely fine copper wire, and the cantilever is formed from a specific grade of aluminum tube. You may also notice that the suspension is stiffer than what is usually seen in Moving Magnet cartridges of this type.
The stylus is a Gyger Type I, and the complete assembly is removable, making replacement or upgrade a straightforward and cost-effective process. In fact, all of the IQ stylus assemblies are interchangeable, meaning that you could start with an IQ-I and eventually replace the stylus assembly with the vastly superior version used in the IQ-III. It has been designed to be used with a Moving Magnet-compatible phono stage with an input impedance of 47K Ohms.
The total capacitance in parallel (including arm lead and amplifier capacitance) should not exceed 200pF. If other values of load resistance and capacitance are used, the frequency response of the cartridge may deviate from the specified values.

AN-S1
The AN-S1 is a passive device, designed to convert the mainly current output of your Moving Coil cartridge (MC) to a higher voltage, low-current signal of sufficient strength to allow a Moving Magnet (MM) phono stage to amplify it to a suitable level.
The internal transformers used in the AN-S1 are manufactured by Audio Note (UK) exclusively, use the very best core materials and winding technology available at the price, and are housed in Mumetal screening canisters to minimise noise and interference.
Current models
- AN-S1 L
- AN-S1 H
The AN-S1 can be supplied in two versions; the AN-S1/L (low-impedance) and the AN-S1/H (high-impedance). The ‘L’ version has a switchable input impedance of 3 Ohms and 12 Ohms; the ‘H’ version, 15 Ohms and 60 Ohms.
The 3 Ohm input of the ‘L’ version has been primarily designed to partner the Audio Note IO Moving Coil cartridges, and the 12 Ohm input is intended to be used with cartridges with an internal impedance of around 3 to 4 Ohms.
The 15 Ohm input of the ‘H’ version is designed to partner cartridges with an internal impedance of around 4 to 5 Ohms; the 60 Ohm input is designed for cartridges with internal impedance in the region of 15 to 20 Ohms.
It is possible to use our transformers with cartridges that have greater internal impedance, or values that are outside the preferred ranges of the switchable inputs, however, it is important to realize that an input impedance in the region of three to four times the internal impedance of your cartridge will usually provide the best results.

Arm One/II
When we decided to develop a new range of budget to mid priced tonearms to replace our long lived and loved ARM-One, Two and Three, we obviously had high hopes and expectations for the new design. We are extremely pleased to announce that the new Version II models have exceeded even our high standards. Ladies and Gentlemen, we give you the Audio Note (UK) ARM-Three/II.
Completely redesigned
We needed an arm that could be accommodated by not only our own range of turntables, but also by the many designs that were cut for the classic single hole 'Rega' mounting that has dominated the industry for so many years. Yet at the same time, we needed something that would truly push the boundaries of performance, design and quality, not only from a build perspective but also from the vitally important sound quality perspective also. This would require a complete rethink of many of the design criteria, and a level of engineering precision and quality that is rarely seen in the world of HiFi.
Precision Engineering
All of the new arms are manufactured in a state of the art machining facility located in Austria. We don't use parts manufactured by any other company for our new arms; every single piece is custom designed and manufactured by us and for us. This was the only way we could guarantee to get the results we were aiming for. Many people thought we were crazy to contemplate such an undertaking, especially considering the relatively modest prices we wanted to offer the new arms for, but such things have never worried us in the past, so why should they now! It took us over a year of painstaking prototyping, testing, redesigning and re-prototyping to finalise the design... and the results truly astonishing.
Tapered Armtube
The new arms all share the same construction, based around an armtube that is machined from a single billet of high-grade aluminium. It is tapered both internally and externally, which reduces overall mass and also increases stiffness. The structural rigidity of this design allows the new arms to work with almost any design of cartridge, regardless of weight or compliance. From the lightest tracking moving magnet right up to our own IO models, the new arms allow the cartridge to track superbly, minimising noise and maximising music.
Bias adjustment is achieved via the classic 'falling weight' method. We found this to be by far the most easy to adjust and reliable method of bias adjustment.
The vertical and horizontal bearings are not the usual 'ball racer' type. Instead we use a rarely seen 'captured unipivot' arrangement, which provides significantly superior performance to any conventional arrangement.
As discussed above, we chose to stay with the mounting system used on our earlier generation of arms. But for the new models, we also introduced a method of adjusting the arm height via a threaded collar and locking nut, allowing the stylus rake angle to be precisely adjusted.
Copper inside and out
The Arm One/II uses our own high purity copper wire inside the armtube, and our own AN-A cable from the arm base to the phono plugs.

TT One Deluxe
Audio Note™ turntables are all designed and built according to a core set of four fundamental insights into what delivers musicality. We have settled on these design principles after many years of experimentation and experience. They can be found on every Audio Note™ turntable from the TT-One right through to the TT Three Reference, in which they achieve their ultimate expression.
Component quality and materials
- A low-mass platter absorbs much less energy from the cartridge in the groove of the record without deadening the sound.
- A vibration-free high-torque AC drive system delivers constant platter speed even when the grooves contain strong modulations.
The transmission of vibration in our turntables and arms is managed through the use of materials with different resonances and mass so that energy is led away from the cartridge, where it does harm to the sound. - It has a high-quality aluminum sub-chassis with optimized three-point suspension geometry.
- A high torque AC motors delivers the torque to the low-mass acrylic platter.
- The robust and long-life bearing features a sintered and polished shaft in a brass tube with a hardened thrust plate and a precision-ground steel ball.
- A suspended chassis attenuates vibration energy from the speakers and the room to deliver purity of reproduction.
Tonearm Choice
The TT-One is built to give an even more generous measure of musical enjoyment, particularly when paired with an Audio Note™ arm to create a combination able to punch well above its price point.
Power Supply
The TT-One offers exceptional performance in standard form, but even this can be improved upon with the addition of the dedicated External power supply.
As the turntable uses (much better sounding) AC motors, the external power supply is a complete AC regenerator, offering the best performance of the turntable independent of the quality of the AC from the wall socket. Next to this, the power supply enables switching from 33 to 45 rpm without changing the pulley.
The power supply can be retrofitted later. Contact us for details.

The transmission of vibration in our turntables and arms is managed through the use of materials with different resonances and mass so that energy is led away from the cartridge, where it does harm to the sound. - It has a high-quality aluminum sub-chassis with optimized three-point suspension geometry.
- Two opposed AC motors deliver twice the torque to the low-mass acrylic platter and also have the benefit of further stabilizing the suspension.
- The robust and long-life bearing features a sintered and polished shaft in a brass tube with a hardened thrust plate and a precision-ground steel ball.
- A suspended chassis attenuates vibration energy from the speakers and the room to deliver purity of reproduction.
Tonearm Choice
The TT-Two is built to give an even more generous measure of musical enjoyment, particularly when paired with an Audio Note™ arm to create a combination able to punch well above its price point.
Power Supply
The TT-Two offers exceptional performance in standard form, but even this can be improved upon with the addition of the dedicated External power supply.

The internal transformers used in the AN-S3 are manufactured by Audio Note (UK) exclusively. Each transformer is made from 0.1mm laminated super mumetal 250 and wound with 99.99% pure copper wire. Each Transformer is then housed in a Mumetal screening canister to minimise noise and interference.
Current models
- AN-S2 L
- AN-S3 LM
- AN-S3 M
- AN-S3 H
The AN-S3 can be supplied in the following standard versions to suit the internal impedance of your cartridge:
- AN-S3 L - 3 Ohm input impedance - Primarily designed for use with the Audio Note (UK) IO range
- AN-S3 LM - 4 Ohm input impedance - For cartridges with an impedance of 1 to 2 Ohms
- AN-S3 M - 16 Ohm input impedance - For cartridges with an impedance of 4 to 6 Ohms
- AN-S3 H - 64 Ohm input impedance - For cartridges with an impedance of 16 to 21 Ohms
It is possible to use our transformers with cartridges that have greater internal impedance, or values that are outside the preferred ranges of the switchable inputs, however, it is important to realise that an input impedance in the region of three to four times the internal impedance of your cartridge will usually provide the best results.

Arm Three/II
Silver inside and out
The Arm Two/II uses our own high purity Silver Litz wire inside the armtube, and our own AN-Vx silver cable from the arm base to the phono plugs.

IO-I
The IO range of cartridges from Audio Note UK is world-renowned for its stunning quality and its effortless ability to reproduce music to the highest standards. The revolutionary nature of the design runs contrary to most accepted design criteria, then, as it does now. The result is a small range of moving coil cartridges that are second to none in dynamic range, tonal balance, separation, and timbral reproduction, as well as a lack of coloration and surface noise.
All of the above make the cartridges relatively costly to acquire and use correctly, but the results are so outstanding, and their music-making is so fine that Audio Note has never found selling them to be a problem. Generally, they have been very scarce and hard to find. An annual production of about 40-50 pieces speaks for itself.
All IO cartridges are hand-built in the UK to exacting standards and feature ALNICO magnets, silver-wound generator coils, and a titanium cantilever with an Audio Note AN Type 1 profile, diamond stylus.
Due to the extremely low output, we do not recommend the use of active moving coil stages for any of the IO cartridges. Active MC stages do not offer the linearity and general noise level necessary to get the best performance from the IO cartridges, this is why we always recommend a correctly specified Step Up Transformer, feeding a Moving Magnet RIAA stage.

TT Three
A third man, the host, carefully puts a vinyl on. The stylus descends into the empty space between two tracks. Silence, then subtle crackling and anticipation fill the air. The third man, who only looks relaxed on the outside, turns up the volume on the amplifier. The loudspeakers discreetly emit that typical "vinyl sound." The guests on the sofa are curious which vinyl the third man has chosen, until the drums kick in.
Boom—clap! The bass drum resonates through the furniture, and one of the guests kicks the table, spilling coffee from the cups in a knee-jerk reaction. An audiophile’s state of shock. The third man shouts, “Wow!” But what else would you expect him to shout at such an incredible moment? The “dynamics” are simply mind-blowing, nightclub volume at home.

Drive System
- High mass torque without any of the usual 'high mass platter' energy storage problems.
- Very light, highly inert platter made from Lexan, which has virtually no reflective properties nor any resonance storage problems.
- Rubber belt driving the platter around its outside rim.
- Three immensely powerful motors, whose speed is “locked” together by the master control unit’s digitally synthesised frequency.
This combination provides a platform with levels of stability and torque which high mass turntables can only dream of! When the high mass stored in the motors provides torque to drive the light, inert platter, the energy is focused as rotation, nothing else, and the best of both worlds is achieved.
Suspension System
Three point suspended design, centred at the bearing, which is also the epicentre of the motors’ inertia. This completely removes the most common problem in suspended turntables, where the motors and suspension are misaligned in relation to each other and as a result, the platter is vacillating constantly between the centre of the drive system and the centre of the suspension.
The sub chassis is designed with 3 arms. One has the tonearm in the standard position on the far right, the other two hold mass balancing weights, which provide an exact equivalent of the combined arm / cartridge mass, thus loading each suspension tower equally.
Tonearm Choice
The TT-Three is supplied with the arm board cut for our own '/II' 9" tonearms. This is the only way we supply the TT-Three, and we do not offer any other arm boards to fit the inferior offerings from other manufacturers. Our tonearms are the perfect choice for the TT-Three, so why use anything else?!
Power Supply
The different versions of the TT Three differentiate themselves by using different power supply units to drive and synchronise the three motors. As we use AC motors exclusively, the PSU regenerate the wall power to AC of suitable frequency for the different speeds. Next all motors are synchronised in an extremely sophisticated way. How the motors are power and synchronised differs per PSU type.
The original PSU for the TT Three is the PSU3. Due to its costs we decided to introduce two less expensive and one even more advanced and sophisticated version.
The power supply 1 offers an excellent level of musical engagement without compromise of the component quality. 0.5W Tantalum Resistors and Audio Note Electrolytic capacitors are used throughout. The special CODE, analogue modules and output stages are all coded, modelled and designed in-house.
The power supply 2 features improved local power supply regulation for the signal generator, improvements to the clock line and the output stage offering great improvements in refinement, tonal density, palette and definition over the power supply 1.
The power supply 3 is a unique product in every respect, achieving the best sonic results. A superior level of control is achieved by using a specifically designed analogue computer, unique analogue oscillators and fully discrete component design, from start to finish. The discrete component output stage offers far more freedom to achieve a perfect balance both electronically and sonically achieving optimal damping and energy transfer.
The power supply 4 is in essence the same PSU as included with our TT Three reference turntable.

AN-Lexus LX Loudspeaker Cable
At their various price points, our speaker cables represent the finest possible choices for connecting your loudspeakers to your amplifiers.
As we observed the cost of precious metals such as Silver beginning to rise dramatically, we decided to expand our range of more affordable copper cables. We took the groundbreaking designs we developed for our higher level Silver cables, and applied them to a new range of more affordable copper designs. The results were astonishingly good, and provided a level of performance to our customers that previously could not have been attained at such realistic prices. The AN-LEXUS cables are effectively copper versions of our AN-SOGON models, and the new AN-ISIS is a copper version of our AN-SOOTTO.
AN-LEXUS LX shares its geometry with our Flag Ship Silver cable, AN-SOGON LX. It has a Twisted Quad design, having four independent groups of Litz conductors of varying sizes. It is supplied in single conductor form, so two pieces will be required for each single wired 'speaker, and four would be required for each bi-wired 'speaker.

AN-ISIS Mains Cable
Audio Note AC cables used judiciously (you don’t need them on all components) complete the chain and unleash a system’s full potential. We have the sense that sound is extended farther up and down the audio spectrum; through to the world where tiny details live; and out into the physical space where the music was recorded. Everything feels more ‘live’ and present. Instruments sounds like better versions of themselves, human voices are more emotionally affecting. Both inflections and innuendos are more noticeable.
Even if you’re used to extremely high end power cables, these AC cables need to be heard.
Audio Note's Isis mains cable is based on our popular ISIS cable. With specially designed high purity copper conductors, it offers superb performance and good value for money.

PALLAS uses a proprietary geometry to provide ultra low capacitance to optimise certain connections.

PALLAS/II Interconnect
Being of litz construction, our interconnects have a higher capacitance than some. This is not an issue in most circumstances, however, between the high impedance secondary of our moving coil transformers (100k Ohm) and the pre-amplifier input, the cable needs to have high transfer ability but with low capacitance. The same is true between CD-Transport and DA-Converter.
So over the past few years we have worked on a low capacitance addition to our cable range. Dubbed 'Pallas II' which replace the original Pallas cables, and now uses a proprietary geometry to provide ultra low capacitance with even better sonic performance.
As it is incredibly time consuming to manufacture and completely hand constructed, availability is somewhat limited! As such their price is also such that we qualified all Pallas cables as Level 5 cables.
Available models
- White Pallas/II
- Brown Pallas/II

Audio Note (UK) is highly critical of the digital medium as presented by compact disc; we sincerely hope that you too will find this transport breaks free from the 'digital mould' that we are all so accustomed to, and so opens a new window on your CD collection.
It has been specifically engineered for sonic performance rather than technical specification, and fulfils all Audio Note (UK) Level 1 criteria.

Materials and component quality DAC 1.1x/II
Extensive research into the fundamental properties of the data stream itself have shown beyond doubt that, regardless of the theoretical advantages of the signal manipulation employed in our competitors products, such as higher over sampling, noise shaping, re-clocking or jitter reduction, these corrective measures greatly interfere with the critical time domain requirements of the signal.
Music is a time continuum from start to end which when broken is irreparably damaged, and no amount of clever manipulation can restore it to its original time / frequency / amplitude duration or relationship, regardless of what the theorists may tell you.
As a result, we have developed a way of excluding or bypassing all these corrective measures, to allow the conversion from digital to analogue to be done without any manipulation whatsoever. All we do is to reformat the data stream to allow the converter chip to be able to interpolate the incoming information correctly.
In other words, the Audio Note (UK) DAC1.1x has no over sampling, no jitter reduction, no noise shaping and no re-clocking. Having removed all of the digital filtering that is required for over sampling, all filtering is done in the analogue domain where it is easier to retain good, wide band phase-frequency and dynamically coherent behaviour. It uses the highest grade Analogue Devices AD1865, 18Bit stereo converter chip solely because we found it to be the best sounding available (yes, even better than the 20Bit versions!).
Materials and component quality DAC 1.1x/II Signature
The DAC1.1x/II Signature also features an abundance of upgraded components in comparison with the standard edition, including our own Audio Note (UK) Tantalum resistors in key areas.

This current version brings the design right up to date, and dramatically improves on the previous incarnations in every possible area.
Whilst the rest of the audiophile world continues it delusional and ultimately doomed love affair with the currently fashionable crop of what are claimed to be 'high resolution' computer sources, we at Audio Note (UK) continue to extract even greater degrees of information and quality from Red Book CD, which is still the best, currently available digital music format.
Audio Note (UK) is highly critical of the digital medium as presented by compact disc; we sincerely hope that you too will find this transport breaks free from the 'digital mould' that we are all so accustomed to, and so opens a new window on your CD collection.
It has been specifically engineered for sonic performance rather than technical specification, and fulfils all Audio Note (UK) Level 2 criteria.
Materials and component quality
The CD3.1x/II is the first model of integrated CD player in our range to feature the highly regarded Analogue Devices AD1865 digital to analogue converter chip, the same device that we use in our more costly stand alone DACs. This 18bit device has consistently outperformed every competing chip we have tested regardless of specification or price.
The transport is our now classic in house modified Philips CD mechanism, designed purely to read true Red Book CD, which in our opinion is still the best possible Digital music format currently available.
The analogue output stage features two ECC88 dual triode valves and our own custom designed and manufactured Audio Note (UK) copper foil capacitors. Our own Tantalum resistors are also used in critical areas, offering a quite remarkable level of performance.

DAC 2.1x
In other words, the Audio Note (UK) DAC2.1x has no over sampling, no jitter reduction, no noise shaping and no re-clocking.
The filter-interface coils / transformers are of extremely high quality, and are custom designed and manufactured in house by us.

The DAC2.1x Signature also features an abundance of upgraded components in comparison with the standard edition, including our own Audio Note (UK) Tantalum resistors and Copper coil capacitors used in key areas. It also features a valve rectified power supply (the standard DAC2.1x uses solid state rectification).
Materials and component quality DAC2.1x Balanced
The DAC2.1x/II Balanced features an upgraded version of the classic Audio Note (UK) Line preamplifier output stage, using a pair of ECC82 / 5814a double triode valves.
Unlike the preceding models in the Audio Note (UK) DAC range, the DAC2.1x/II Balanced features a pair of custom designed and manufactured output transformers. These devices not only have exceptionally wide frequency response, but also just about the absolutely best dynamic transfer function possible. The analogue output has provisions for both single ended and balanced operation, using the best available quality RCA and XLR connectors. To power this spectacularly revealing arrangement, we have incorporated a power supply with valve rectification.
This technique not only provides excellent isolation between the digital circuitry and power supply, but also provides wellisolated short and clean analogue signal paths. Internal components are of extremely high quality, as is expected from an Audio Note (UK) product.

Meishu Tonmeister
If the lenses in a microscope are not correctly chosen and adjusted, the image becomes blurred, and detail and information is lost. The same is true for an amplifier circuit; if each stage is not absolutely correctly chosen and matched to work optimally with the rest of the amplifier, the result will be blurred, unfocused, uneven sound lacking in information.
So to create a better amplifier, the natural idea was to simplify the circuit and optimise every element, so the combination works seamlessly and harmoniously together. This is exactly what we have done with the MEISHU Tonmeister.
The new PSU uses only one mains transformer, one 5U4 rectifier valve and one choke. When this arrangement is optimised, it works extremely well, producing a very homogeneous and ‘complete’ sound.
The input and driver stage is very similar to that found in the JINRO, TOMEI and ONGAKU, with a 12AU7 and 5687 driving an in-house designed and manufactured inter-stage transformer for the best energy transfer, evenness and authority. This is the most important, fundamental upgrade over the original design.
The output transformers for the new MEISHU were designed specifically for the project by Andy Grove, and it is not an overstatement to say that they are superb.
The circuit is now a beautiful example of elegant simplification, something that could only be realised thanks to our ability to create extremely closely matched transformers in-house, and having our own supply of custom resistors, in-house made foil capacitors and custom made electrolytic capacitors. These allow us to exert extremely tight control over the performance and voicing of the complete amplifier from input to output, something that is simply beyond the possibilities of manufacturers who have to rely on 'off the shelf' components.
The result is an amplifier that maintains the legendary Audio Note musicality, midrange magic and glorious tonal colour of the original MEISHU, whilst bringing new and previously unheard levels of information retrieval and dynamic expression, redefining what is usually expected of a 300B SET amplifier.

Materials and component quality P4 Balanced- First Principles
The shortest signal path is generally the best, this is the professed aim of almost all the manufacturers of high quality amplification in the audio industry.
However, when it comes to executing this ideal, most of the rest of the industry has been wilfully forgetting this truth and has become addicted to complexity and technology as marketing statements, in stark contrast to this Audio NoteTM has continued to focus on studying and refining our understanding of how to achieve the above goal in order to create products that deliver better and more realistic music, lasting value and overall quality.
Unsurprisingly, the more we explore, the more it becomes obvious that simplicity – and in particular keeping passive components completely out of the signal path or at least to an absolute minimum – is desirable for better and more faithful music reproduction.
Our ideas eventually led to a decision to develop a better sounding power amplifier circuit, a potential successor to the original parallel single-ended 211 based Gaku-On. In pursuit of ultimate simplicity, we decided that it would comprise just two active stages and three transformers; one on the input, one as a driver and one on the output. This topology reduces the number of passive parts in the signal path to just two resistors.
Designing the circuit was relatively easy on paper. However when we came to building a prototype we discovered why such nothing like it had been implemented before, and it was more than half a decade before we could bring the new Gaku-On to fruition.
Our finding was that such a simple amplification circuit demands a degree of transformer quality never seen before in professional or domestic audio. Audio NoteTM is unique in our facility to design, model, prototype and wind our own transformers in house, yet in spite of this it took even us six years to research and develop the necessary materials know how to achieve a musically transparent magnetic coupling from input to output in such a simple circuit.
Each transformer has to be complimentary in every aspect of behaviour to the one next in line. It must not impose any bandwidth, phase, linearity or low level abnormalities which can be amplified by the following stage or stages. It was no small task getting to a point where each transformer was as invisible as the next, despite differences in core size, design and passing signal level. To read more about the art and science of transformer design, click here.
In order to beat this we will continue to research and develop our understanding, and until we find the necessary solutions to further improve the materials, simply put, we believe nothing will come along that beats it.
Everything we learned in the process of developing our best amplifiers, we have applied subsequently to a new and partnering family of balanced, transformer coupled monoblock amplifiers.

Materials and component quality Shinri Balanced- First Principles

TT Three
A third man, the host, carefully puts a vinyl on.
The TT-Three Series turntables incorporate what we consider to be the ultimate solutions to most of the solvable problems in vinyl replay.

IO-Gold
The IO range of cartridges from Audio Note UK are world-renowned for their stunning quality and their effortless ability to reproduce music to the highest standards. The revolutionary nature of the design runs contrary to most accepted design criteria, now, as they did then. The result is a small range of moving coil cartridges, which are second to none in dynamic range, tonal balance, separation, timbral reproduction, and lack of coloration and surface noise.
All the above make the cartridges relatively costly to acquire and use correctly, but the results are so illustrious and their music-making so fine that Audio Note has never found selling them a problem; generally, they have been very scarce and hard to find. An annual production of about 40 - 50 pieces speaks for itself.
All IO cartridges are hand-built in the UK to exacting standards and feature ALNICO magnets, silver-wound generator coils, and a titanium cantilever with an Audio Note AN Type 1 profile, diamond stylus.
Th IO-Gold incorporates a heavy, gold plated gunmetal body. To use this cartridge on our tone-arms will require our tungsten counterweight. Next to this the IO-Gold uses an extremely polished diamond and an upgraded magnetic generator.

P3 Tonmeister

M3
It is well known that the accurate reproduction of music, not just sound, requires the purity of the incoming signal to be preserved. It is therefore not difficult to conclude that, in order to achieve this goal and to retain the musicality of the original performance, the complexity of the circuitry itself must be kept to a minimum.
In response to this, the M3 Pre Amplifier uses a single-ended, zero feedback circuit topology. This is simply the most linear design possible, demanding pure Class A valve operation and removing the need for a phase splitter, which introduces unnecessary crossover distortion.
In contrast to the majority of the audio industry, we design our circuits with the aim of minimising non-harmonic and time base anomalies, rather than producing vanishingly small harmonic or low intermodulation distortion measurements. These non-harmonic amplitude and time base distortions have a highly perceptible and adverse affect on the signal waveform, and it is far more important to address these factors than participate in the increasingly irrelevant numbers game that chases „perfect measured response‟.
As a result, the M3 was designed for maximum linearity and minimum transient distortion, and avoids the need for detrimental „corrective‟ measures, such as inherently error-prone feedback loops.
Rather than using separate controls for volume and balance, the M3 is equipped with a dedicated Audio Note (UK) stepped attenuator for each channel. This not only brings the enormous improvements in sound quality expected from the now legendary Audio Note (UK) stepped attenuators, but also provides a level of channel balance accuracy that is impossible to achieve with conventional volume and balance potentiometers.
